They’re going to be making history this summer at Wake Nation Cincinnati in Fairfield…Guinness style!

A Wake Nation Cincinnati team of wakeboarders will be setting a new world record for most distance traveled on a wakeboard within 24 hours…and it’s all for a good cause!

The 24-hour world record attempt will begin Friday, June 25, and end on Saturday, June 26, and is officially sanctioned by Guinness World Records™, the ultimate authority on record-breaking achievement.

The public is invited to join in the fun, including riding on the lake with the wakeboarding record-setters, photo and autograph sessions, wakeboarding clinics, and more. Additional details will be released closer to the record-setting event.

Pledged proceeds from the world-record attempt will be donated to MedLend, a non-profit organization that provides medical missions to impoverished countries around the globe in an attempt to save and improve the lives of their citizens.

The award-winning Wake Nation Cincinnati opens for its second season May 1 and will operate daily through October. Opening hours vary between 10 a.m. and noon, depending on the month. Closing time is 8 p.m. (Check website for details.)

Located on Joe Nuxhall Way in Fairfield’s Joyce Park, the Wake Nation Cincinnati watersports’ complex opened to rave reviews one year ago as Ohio’s only watersports’ park where riders can wakeboard, water ski, kneeboard, and wakeskate around a 10-acre lake WITHOUT A BOAT. Riders are pulled around the oval lake at speeds of 18-20 miles per hour by a circulating, overhead cable system that runs 35 feet above the water. During its first season of operation, Wake Nation Cincinnati received numerous awards, including prestigious “Best Of” awards from Ohio Magazine, Cincinnati Magazine and Cincy Magazine.

New for 2010 is a smaller, second lake called “The Practice Pond” that features an “easy start” ride system, the first of its kind in the U.S. The Practice Pond is designed to give children ages five and up and beginners of all ages a place to learn to ride a wakeboard at a slower speed than on the main lake. The Practice Pond will have a starting dock on each end of the pond, creating an easy “up and back” system to facilitate more “launch” repetitions and generate a faster learning curve.

At Wake Nation Cincinnati, both parking and admission are FREE. The park is a “pay as you play” facility with ride time starting at $25 for two hours. Rental equipment, private lessons, group discounts and parties are available. Season Passes are now on sale for $550.

Hi guys,

Thanks for volunteering, but the team will consist of professional riders and a special guest or two. We'll announce the names of the team members and other event details in the near future. Right now, we're focusing on the countdown to May 1.

See you there,
Trent

Why May 1st anyway? It should be open now! April 1st would've been more appropriate!!! Hate to see it lose all the money you all could have made!!!!

thats already been discussed... they're building the practice pond cable now and wanted to have that ready for the season opener. From what i understand its also a pretty big effort to de-winterize the cable.

Pete did indicate that they'd open earlier next year.

I'll take your word on that. First time I ever rode was about a week into May last year. It was one of those days when it was warm out (the early spring kind of warm) and the sun was bright. It was plenty warm until about 3:00 or 4:00 until the sun started to make its turn. At that point the breeze really started to get to you. Of course, those were much better conditions than this weekend.

And just for the record, weather.com was showing 62 on Saturday and 58 on Sunday when I made that post. :-)

I'll see you guys this Saturday,
Ryan
