View Full Version : 3-stage rockers
whats the difference between an abrubt 3-stage ,and an aggresive 3- stage rocker if any ?
im not in any way a board expert, but from the sounds of it, they're the same. a "aggresive" or "abrubt" 3 stage will do the same thing... lots of buck and lots of air.

Rocker is the arc a board has when its sitting on the ground. They measure it by how many inches the tip is off the floor when its sitting flat.
Continuous rocker is a smooth sweeping bend with no kinks in it. This lets you keep you’re your speed through the wake and lets you take tricks further out into the flats but will not shoot you very high.
A 3 stage rocker is basically a flat center with the end kinked up. An aggressive 3 stage is a little less rocker (not bent up as much) but has a kink instead of being a smooth arc.
An abrupt 3 stage is kinked up higher and is made to shoot you straight up into the air and land on the down side of the wake because all your energy is transfered up and not out. (good for spinning).
They have been modifying boards so much now that you can’t tell by looking at a board like you used to. They now even have a 5 stage rocker board.
thanks, thats cool of you to take the time to explain

This summer you should ride all your friends boards and see if you can tell the difference. I couldn't really tell a difference until I had been riding for about 7 years. Now I can really feel the different features that they put on boards. There are a lot of gimmick features and fade off. Other features are great and spread to other boards.
