What is the difference as far as terrain parks? which is better? I always get one at perfect but if mad river is better i could see myself driving up there

I think that Mad River has a much better park. The main difference is that the park is about 5 times bigger with about 7 times as many hits. Perfect North is about a 100 foot vertical run and has about 8 hits. Mad River is a whole run (about 400 foot vertical) and has about 50 hits.

I live right between the two and always go to Mad River because of the park. If you are not hitting the park than I would say they are too similar to make a difference.

I have to jump in on this discussion. I love perfects park. I know its small and not many hits which really sucks. But what we have to work with its not bad. We try to change up it up every 2-3 weeks. Usually will put a different rail out or change up the rail line or jump line. We also have some really sweet comps with red bull and such.

Its usually always maintained pretty well unless you go really late at night. That is the difference i've seen in our park than others. We've also beleive midwest park of the year beleive it or not.

And if you love ridding park everyone here should consider PFC. Its an end of the year camp where 1/2 to 3/4 of the Mountain gets transformed to the park. Its pretty sweet and its closed to the general public only open to campers who pay. Had an 75ft hit last year that you had to drop in at the top of center and bomb it into the jump. DOUBLE CORKED 1260's and double rodeo's and other sillyness went down.

I'll be up at wakenation after work today. You can also ask steveo who works at wakenation about perfects park. He and i ride the park alot so if you want anymore description just ask.

Never been to Mad River so i can't comment on that.

I must also jump on this discussion:
My first 7 or so years snowboarding were spent at mad river. After taking off for college (now 6 years ago) I've been spending my time at perfect north (instructed there for 3 years). Pretty much everything that has been said before has been correct. IMO except for the fact that mad river (historically) has had NO idea how to build jumps. They've been improving year to year, but are still LEAGUES behind the two bottom kickers that PNS has up every year.

The word is MR is actually devoting another run, sugarbush (directly to the right of the quad if your going up the hill) to jumps. They've also hired a new park manager from somewhere in PA (i think...). They've started a huge marketing campain calling it the "capital park" or whatever.

The PNS park crew does an amazing job with what they've been given, but management at PNS is totally the problem: devote more of the hill to freakin park before (if) mad river ever finally gets on their horse, or they can see a good chunk of their market share for advanced park riders fall to mad river. PNS management needs a little less of the snooty "we dont dirty the snow here" attitude and listen to their customers. If someone knows chip: please tell him I said so.

The new park manager at Mad River is one of my old friends named Brian Papworth. He has lived just about everywhere out west and took the job 2 years ago. He was living in PA working for a small resort and then got the Mad River job. The park has really changed the past couple of years.

I totally agree about the kickers at Mad River. They are tiny. The problem with Perfect North building such big kickers is that it takes the whole run to build up enough speed and sometimes that still isn't enough.

There is not really any reason for someone that lives in Cincy to drive 2 extra hours to go to Mad River, but I am right in between and so I choose more hits per run everytime.

thanks for the input. i have never been to/ seen perfect north so i dont kno what to compare mad river to. but the deal jason is gonna get everyone is enough for me to choose perfects. plus most of the people that i wakeboard with at wakenation go to perfects also.
