You all with easy access to Willytown are making me jealous. I need to find close water access ASAP during the week. What's the rule of thumb this time of year on the Ohio and Licking? In the summer I usually make an educated guess based on the river level. Is it too nasty right now? Any suggestions?

For all i know dude the river is nasty right now and it has to be freezing temps.

Tough call right now, just started hitting the licking late last summer. Avoid it after rain storms, lots of logs.
Brookville is great during the week and evenings, forget it on the weekends unless you want to just hang out and swim or surf. Weekend mornings are OK before 10AM. Most afternoons suck too due to the wind, lake gets pretty choppy except down by the damn!

ceasars creek? dont know where your at in liberty township but that isnt real far and its not as windy as brookville.there would just be some fishermen out there now should be good water and warmer than the river.Need a third at ceasars during the week after 3, let me know i can bring cash or gas.
I'de say just wing it. If you got the urge to ride just go. Weusually put in at tanners creek if we attemp to ride the ride and weve never had a problem with anything wondering around.

We usually drive over 275 and take a peek to see what it looks like. As long as it hasn't rained in a few days you're usually OK.
Let us know what the temp is?

I don't go on the river until it's below 28 feet. 26.6 is Cincinnati pool stage.
If it's under 28 there's probably not a lot of current.

River looked good and glassy this morning around the Riverbend area. Now the sediment just needs to settle down.

It looked real good from the 275 bridge down in lawrenceburg this morning and tonight. Everytime I go over , I wish I was down there.

I guess between you going over the west 275 bridge twice per day and me doing the same on the east 275 bridge, we should be able to give a pretty decent river report! :D
Hopefully the rain (we've gotten and will get) won't mess it all back up.

Saw a full blown tree (not a bush) going down the river standing up yesterday. Needless to say, river conditions have drastically deteriorated.

Looked good to me.. Still a little muddy looking but didn't look like there was a crazy current or anything
i was out today and there was a lot of junk in some places, but not so much in others. either way keep an eye out for the next week or so.

Can anyone list a name of boat ramps on the river that are pretty safe (i.e. break in to vehicles, safe to park overnight possibly and has a tie up for when going up to get your tow vehicle as the wifey cant' back the trailer down yet) as I have never been launched on the river. Thanks

Just Sent you a PM, I have never had a problem @ Scmidt, but we only use it on concert nights. Public ramps can almost always be commical:D wish I had extra time to go and just watch the bozos that have now idea how to launch or Retrieve a boat:eek: It never ceases to amaze me!
Anyone have a current update on the River conditions???

I was on the River Sunday - Riverside is under new mgmt. and will not open for 2 weeks. Schmidt is open, Fredricks is open. Licking looks good as well as the rest of the river, some junk etc. but not bad for this time of year!:D
Water temp was 60 to 62, should be up to 65 with this warm week.

Yes, we ran up the Licking, not all the way, to about the 275 bridge. Looked great for this time of year, nothing major. We put in at Scmidt so I don't know the condition/depth @ Fredricks but the dock was in.

we put in at scmidt wednesday - temp gauge said 62.5, water was pretty nice just a little trash and small sticks - pretty clear I could see my feet when in the water - got some good runs in but all the gauges are dead on my boat except for the Perfect Pass - hopefully just a fuse..........

My office looks out on it. river's looks high, at 32.75 feet right now. I'm planning on getting out saturday too, but didnt even think about the river yet with all the rain we've had lately.

I drove over 471 bridge last night and didnt see any boat sinkers, but I bet the ramps are full of debris and swift current. The Licking was a disaster.

Forecast for the river looks good for the weekend! Who's in? Plan to be out Saturday & Sunday, probably the river one day and maybe check out East Fork the other, been 4 years since I was at East Fork!
Anyone seen the river lately? its supposedly at 31.7 which is a little high, looks like it wont go below 29 until sunday. Trying to figure out the riding plans since i'm not going to go down to the pwt...

After the fog cleared, the Ohio River conditions were excellent on Saturday...aside from the dead, bloated deer floating down the middle! :D
Paul, where were you on the river on Saturday? I was out there but didn't see you around.
You saved some of that venison for me, right?

We put in at Woodland Mound ramp and rode between there and Newport. Bought a season boat ramp pass so that might be our place as long as the river is settled down.
The venison should be around one of the dams or Louisville about now. Its ripe and all yours!!! :D
I heard debris was bad last weekend because of the lack of current, looking to go out tomorrow... anyone hit it recently?

I drive over the 275 bridge on the east side every day for work. The conditions looked GREAT this afternoon.
Sadly, too much to do to hit the water this week.

thanks for the info. crew had opposite schedules and i really didnt feel like messing with the boat, so just headed to wake nation. maybe headed out tomorrow.
btw i was up at griggs in columbus yesterday and ran into brian (BA) and brett in an 01 blue metalflake xstar, said they knew you. i didnt know your PS205V was so customized. Considering we have pretty much the same boat would love to see some of the upgrades sometime.

Yep, BA's great people...as are many up on Griggs.
Our 205v was a straight up ski boat when we got it...a diamond in the rough. Other than having the dealer put on a tower and PP, I've done everything. Happy to show you sometime.

Friday's rain didn't have much affect on the river. Had great conditions again Saturday morning. No extra extremeties or wierd growths to report either...yet. :D
Looks like I need to concentrate on driving a straighter path! :(

07.27.10: From the Combs-Hehl (275) Bridge, the river debris looks to be flushed out and the levels back down to normal. Sediment is still up.

Licking is in Great Shape, down a bit, but the least amount of debris this season!
