I don't know this lake or area at all, having trouble finding a place to stay. We would love to come down but the info is pretty sketchy. Jamestown resort is booked. I have been to the Cumberland web site, but again not being familiar with the area makes it hard to book a room and some of the motels look pretty shady!

Help!!!

We used to go to that part of the lake all the time but its been yrs since i've been down. dont know if things have changed but after going through somerset and leaving all the modern day amenities behind. there are not to many places to stay as of hotels and motels once you get into jamestown. we always stayed at a place called pinehurst lodge. it is a hole in the wall. basicly a roof over big opened room with beds and a bathroom in the corner. we would always laugh when we open the door..but it worked,it was cheap and it had a pool for those midnight or later dips..it about a 10 minute drive to state or jamestown marinas

we also stayed at apple valley condos at the front entrance of the state park..very nice and is a gated community with a pool. they are owned privately owned and are rented out by the owners.. i guess just search yahoo or something for apple valley condo at cumberland.

i've never stay at jamestown but have rented some house right outside of jamestown but cant remember what they were called.. Ive stayed at the state park at the lodge and in the cabins and was always pleased...
the last couple of times we stayed down there we rented houseboats.

Anyone camp at the State Park? If so, how are the amenities? We're thinking about heading down.

When I go to Jamestown I stay at the M&M sportsman lodge, its about a 1/4 mile from the marina. $85-90 a night for 2 bedroom full kitchen cabin. It is nothing nice but works.

I have camped at State Park and everything was pretty nice. They have a huge lunch ramp that is very convenient.

If this many people are going down for the weekend and don't have a place to stay, we should call Jamestown or State dock and work a deal on a house boat for Friday and Saturday night. I was just down there for 4th of July, and only about half of the houseboats were rented, so I know they are struggling. It would be stupid of them to not work with us.

Thanks for the info, but if we go I'll be running with 2 groms (boarders, surfers, and skaters) in tow and I don't want them to see my 'irresponsible side'...just yet ;).

On the flip side, it would be cool to make contact with some of the 'locals'. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea for people that are going to post their rides (ours is in my profile)? After all, isn't that how we mostly end up recognizing each other on the water?

Brad or Bill I was wondering if you guys decided to go down this weekend and if so where you guys were staying. My friend Tyler and I were wanting to come down. We were thinking if we get enough people or something maybe we can find a cabin to rent. It would just be me and him we were wanting to party and hangout with the fellow wanksters. Let me know if that's cool cause we will start looking for a place.

I called Lake Cumberland State Park and Jamestown this morning...no cabins or condos to rent...booked unless they get a cancellation. There are (only) a couple (hotel-like) rooms at each of their lodges.

We're going to camp at Lake Cumberland State Park, so we'll be heading down Friday just after lunch.

You guys make it? Not sure if I saw your ride.

It was a great time. Greg and the BoatWorks crew put on a nice event. Reps from HL and Ronix were there with gear as well as a few boats from BoatWorks (including the CSX 220).

There was a decent turnout, especially for not spreading the word until late. Next year's event will probably only get bigger and better.
